In our setting, we further increase the difficulty of doing this by taking a natural approach to health care in which we seek to maintain and restore normal function rather than diagnosing and treating disease processes as does mainstream health care. It is this approach that makes it natural to base our family medicine care on the broad natural medicine training of a naturopathic physician. This in combination with the considerable experience of a conventionally trained but naturally inclined MD, provide the breadth of training and experience with the depth of experience we feel best provides the family medicine care we seek to offer. It covers the best of both worlds of contemporary medicine in our society while leaving the patient free to direct their health care.
